1. What are entrance requirements to sign up for CDL Program?

2. How old do you have to be to obtain CDL License?

Student must be at least 18 years of age to drive a commercial motor vehicle within the State lines , must be at least 21 years of age to drive a commercial motor vehicle across State lines , carry hazardous materials or transport any passengers

3. What is a CDL class A license?

Class “A” CDL is a Commercial Driver’s License that allows you to drive any combination vehicle of 26,001 or more pounds

4. What is a CDL class B license?

Class “B” CDL is a Commercial Driver’s License that allows you to drive any single vehicle of 26,001 pounds

5. What if I already have a CDL class B license?

Viking Driving School offers brush up programs that will help you to upgrade to Class A CDL

6. What are endorsements on a CDL?

Endorsements are additional tests a driver must pass in order to operate special types of commercial vehicles: hazmat, tanker, double/triple trailers, passengers

8. What is required to renew a CDL license?

Vision test is required every time you renew your license and written test is required every other renewal. However if you have a clean driving record ( no tickets, suspension) the written test will be waived.

Hazardous endorsement written test is required each time you renew your CDL

9. How to obtain teenager drivers permit?

Will be given application form first day of class ( after deposit is paid).

Fill out the application (Instructor explains in class how to fill out the form).

Go to the secretary website to schedule an appointment to get your permit.

Take the permit test at the secretary of state and bring  a copy of the students permit to class.

10. What should you bring to the DMV to obtain your permit?

1.) $20 (Secretary of State fee)

2.) Original Birth Certificate (not copy)  OR  U.S Passport (Valid and not expired)

3.) Proof of Address : (Sealed Transcript from the high school) go to your school counselor) OR Bank Statement with the Childs First, Last Name with address.

4.) Permit Application Form ( Given from Viking Driving School Instructor)

12. How to make appointment at the DMV for your teenagers learner permit ?

Go on the secretary of state website

Choose the DMV Appointment field the Click on Schedule DMV Appointments

Choose the DL or Instruction Permit

13. How to students make up classes they've missed ?

They can miss no more than 4 classes

They can come to the Park Ridge Office whenever we are open

(Monday-Friday : 11AM-7PM)  or (Saturday : 10AM-2PM)

Makeup in Glenview:  Tuesday or Thursday at 6PM , or please check our schedule to verify that a class is being held.

14. Payments: How To Pay ?

Pay Online

Upon Registering you may pay Online (Deposit or Full Payment)

You may also log in to the students email account after registering ,

Choose Payment Tab , add the amount you will like to pay , type in the following credit card details and click submit.   A confirmation email we be send few minutes after.

 

Pay In Person

You may bring Cash or Check or Pay in Person with Card a processing fee of 5% will be added on.

15. Can I take the road test at Viking instead of the DMV?

Yes!  You can take the road test as soon as you complete Drivers Ed (classroom and driving portions)

The Road Test is $120 , Call Viking to Book your Appointment
